Artistic approach

It was in 1999, following a ban on playing tennis, that Nadine Corne decided to walk through the door of a visual arts workshop in Rennes. Quickly captivated by drawing, she has since pursued this practice assiduously, particularly through life drawing.

Initially drawn to oil painting, she developed a passion for watercolor about fifteen years ago. One rainy day, she discovered that the magic for her lay in working wet-on-wet : the fusion of colors, their spontaneity and unpredictability.

The rapid sketching of a live model, captured in the urgency of the gesture, fuels her artistic exploration and also informs her outdoor practice. She always works from life , notably with the Couleurs de Bretagne association, first creating a sketch and then a detailed watercolor. Only then does she transpose from memory a freer, more spontaneous version, where gesture and energy take precedence over descriptive precision.

In this process, watercolor becomes the place where rigor and spontaneity, observation and memory, control and letting go meet.
