Collection: Series "Blue, the in-between world" - François Lemaire

The color blue is the color we know best, it attracts, we admire it since birth, we aspire to this blue as we dream of respite and softness.

But there is not just one blue, there are millions of blues, those of all the paintings that I have seen whatever the period or the artist, Poussin, Klein, Matisse, Picasso, Geneviève Asse... but also and above all those from the inside of a memory that comes to plant itself in the heart of each one.

It is this heart that I paint. Midnight blue, day blue, whatever, my blues speak of desire, of longing, of space, of this infinity of the world. So for me it is the complete opposite of a cold, static color, it is a particular warmth that I seek to create in the painting. I want to paint the warmth of blue. I want to send, with blue, waves of light which for me is the very portrait of blue and its incredible dreamlike power.
