Collection: Series "The Orange of My Eyes" François Lemaire

As a child, I used to walk through my father's land in the summer. I would lie down in the fields and close my eyes to the sun, and I would see everything in orange through my eyelids. That's why I called this series "The Storm in My Eyes."

Orange is a complementary color. I want to give this color an optimal light value. To give the illusion that the painting illuminates the room. There are 80 orange pigments. However, I create orange from 5 red pigments and 3 yellow pigments, ranging from darkest to lightest.

They say that color is a warm color, and that's true. It can express a certain violence in the eyes of some people, but that's not the path I explore in my painting. It's the opposite, I want this vivid color, worked many times on the paintings, to reveal a tranquility in the first place, to suggest to the person looking at it a singular sensation, something buried within him or her. A secret story where words no longer have a place to make way for a purely poetic emanation, a dynamic that looks back to childhood. What I call such a violent sweetness.
