Collection: "Improbable Landscapes" Series François Lemaire

Improbable Landscapes is a series of twenty-five paintings.

I was born from a landscape. I spent my childhood there until I graduated from high school. I remember it; it circulates within me, hiding or resurfacing depending on the day.

Each painting in this series bears its mark. They are neither true nor false; they are the unfolding of a memorial investigation that I call improbable landscapes.

My paintings are pieces of color assembled together in a construction game.

These are pieces of myself.

They freeze the moment of tension, that of painting the ineffable, the singular moment when what cannot be said and what can be shown is expressed. I seek in the simplest expression to elaborate on the painting what I call the almost nothing of the invisible. It is a territory where a fleeting emotion of belonging to the world settles.

These are pieces of my skin where my story is traced in fragments and constitutes a thin thread that connects me to the other.

I shed it every time to rise above the trap and breathe in the scent of the most authentic beauty possible.

A motif emerges from it, and each one demarcates the very boundary of the unbearable lightness of being.
