Yannick Louarn – Painter of maritime memory

Originally from Brittany and based in Morbihan, Yannick Louarn is a painter passionate about the naval history and architectural heritage of his region. For over forty years, he has devoted his art to reviving the glory days of the ancient navy, paying homage to the forgotten ships that once sailed the seas.

His paintings are true portraits of ships, precisely staged in their historical and geographical environments. Each vessel, each detail is meticulously documented, capturing the soul and unique identity of these witnesses to the past. His architect's eye—a discipline in which he was trained—gives him a graphic rigor that is reflected in the finesse of his compositions and the richness of their details.

In addition to his seascapes, Yannick Louarn also explores traditional Breton architecture, through views of old buildings, chapels, houses or details of the coastline, always driven by a desire to transmit and enhance local heritage.

His work, figurative and classical, is done in oil on canvas or on metal support, in a smooth application where the brush is king.

Yannick Louarn infuses a sensitivity, a light and a presence that give his works a timeless vibration, between historical homage and visual poetry.
