"Caritas"
100 x 150 cm, Acrylic on PVC, 2015
In “Caritas,” the artist revisits the representation of charity and human tenderness through an intimate scene painted in black and white. The use of monochrome tones gives the composition an emotional depth, evoking images of compassion and sacrifice. A female figure, whose face expresses gentleness and concern, extends a caring hand toward a bundled-up child, while another child rests peacefully beside her.
The expressive brushstrokes and fluidity of the forms create an atmosphere of movement and life, as if the canvas itself were breathing to the rhythm of this touching scene. In the foreground, a swan stands precariously, adding a touch of elegance and symbolism, suggesting purity and protection. The drips of paint along the contours of the figures add a dimension of fragility, accentuating the contrast between the hardness of the PVC support and the tenderness of the scene depicted.
“Caritas” is a meditation on unconditional love and devotion. The artist uses elements of traditional iconography of charity while integrating contemporary techniques to create a work that is both a reflection on the timeless nature of humanity and a tribute to the power of love in all its forms.
