Untitled
100 x 150 cm, Marker on PVC, 2012

In this untitled work, the artist uses marker pen technique on PVC to recreate a cosmic landscape that is both mystical and fascinating. Inspired by medieval engravings and illustrations of ancient cosmology, the composition features a kneeling human figure, pulling back a curtain or canvas from the sky to reveal the universe beyond. This gesture of revelation seems to symbolize a quest for knowledge, an insatiable curiosity for what lies beyond our immediate understanding.

The drawing is full of meticulous details: stars and planets dot the sky, while the sun and moon, with anthropomorphic faces, watch over the landscape. The striking contrast between the celestial motifs and the terrestrial landscape in the background suggests a duality between heaven and earth, the invisible and the visible, the infinite and the tangible. This symbol-rich imagery refers to both alchemical concepts and mythological stories, exploring the mysteries of the universe and human existence.

The use of PVC as a support gives the work a modern texture and a smooth surface that contrasts with the antique themes and drawing techniques reminiscent of ink engravings. This bold choice of medium reinforces the dialogue between past and present, between tradition and innovation. The marker, a contemporary tool often associated with urban art or graffiti, injects a touch of modernity into a work that, moreover, seems to have been taken from an ancient book of esoteric knowledge.

Untitled invites the viewer on an introspective journey through space and time, the imaginary and the real. The work becomes a visual meditation on the human desire to understand the universe, while respecting the beauty and complexity of the mysteries that surround us. It reminds us that, despite all our progress, we always remain explorers of the unknown, pulling back the veil to glimpse the secrets of infinity.
