In the work Evolution , Myriam Feuilloley presents us with a meditation on the nature of humanity and its perpetual journey between animality and transcendence. Through naked and bald human figures, the artist explores the complexity of human existence, freed from social and material constraints. A woman stands upright, her arms crossed in a posture of reflection or defiance, while a spectral figure, which seems to float behind her, extends its hands in a gesture of revelation or spiritual awakening. Below, a monkey, curious and aware, observes the scene, recalling the common origins and the profound bond between man and nature.
The light blue, ethereal background gives the whole scene a dreamlike, almost surreal atmosphere. Myriam Feuilloley, faithful to her approach inspired by contemporary surrealism and Khmer and Egyptian aesthetics, infuses her characters with a strange beauty. Nudity, far from being simply physical, here becomes a symbol of truth, of the very essence of the human being stripped of its artifices.
