Presentation and artistic approach

Attracted by contemporary art and abstraction since his adolescence, and after having evolved in interior design, Phil-H worked in an art gallery at 30, and took the opportunity to observe and refine his eye. It was in 2000 that he finally chose spatulas and brushes, to create canvases where lyrical abstraction and graphic expression blend: thick and dense impasto, bright colors, contrasts of flat tints and organic lines in movement.

Based in Grenoble—with trips back and forth to Paris and the Vercors—he draws his inspiration from Hans Hartung, Wang Xan Cheng, Egon Schiele, and Vassily Kandinsky, while paying homage to the pop culture of Lichtenstein and Warhol or the intensity of Francis Bacon. His rapid, sweeping gestures reveal the trace of the spatula, transforming each canvas into a space of tension and depth where the eye continually discovers new details.

Through his work, Phil-H explores the balance between visceral emotion and formal rigor to offer an inner journey where abstraction becomes language and a space of freedom.
