In Untitled rockform VI , Ioustini Drakoulakou continues his quest for a sensory geopoetics where rock becomes a sensitive, almost living surface. The work unfolds like a mineral watercolor: a profusion of textures, bluish, lilac and ochre hues, which evokes the strata of the underground world, the slow crystallizations of time.
The composition, both diffuse and organic, draws us into an interior landscape, a space of subtle resonances where science and contemplation merge. The hues evoke turquoise—the series' favorite stone and common thread—while allowing an almost cosmic strangeness to surface.
Through Losing turquoise , Drakoulakou sublimates the scientific gaze of the microscope into a poetic language, transmuting geological observation into a meditation on the memory of matter, on the fragility and beauty of a world that we believed to be frozen.
