About the artist: Pascal Le Berre

Born in 1959, originally from Brittany and living in Normandy, I am a historian by training and a former high school principal. After directing several documentaries on the history of art, I now devote myself fully to sculpture.

A minimalist and inhabited sculpture

My practice is based on the recovery of materials that carry memories—Caen stone, old tools, structural timbers. These fragments of the past become the elements of a contemporary, sober and refined language.

Dialogue with time and gestures

To sculpt is to extend the gestures of artisans of the past. It is to bring together geological, biological, and human time in a single work.

A quest for essential forms

I seek the right form, sometimes marked by tension or a flaw. Each piece is a passage between past and present, memory and intuition.
