In Diaphragm , Vanessa Yiile captures a dizzying moment where the Paris sky seems to open onto another dimension. Two rings of light float in the night, suspended above the rooftops, like incandescent portals.
The Bastille Day fireworks display here becomes more than a national celebration: it transforms into a cosmic experience. The luminous circles evoke the opening of a diaphragm—that of the camera, but also that of consciousness. They symbolize the passage between two worlds, two realities, two perceptions.

The composition plays with the contrast between the dark, stable architecture in the foreground and these almost unreal, celestial forms. The contrast creates a poetic tension: the earthly versus the celestial, the concrete versus the immaterial. The diffuse smoke softens the outlines, reinforcing the impression of a waking dream.
True to her artistic approach, Yiile explores spirituality through the ephemeral moment. The firework, destined to disappear, becomes a metaphor for human perception: everything is vibration, light, a fleeting experience. The work invites us to broaden our perspective, to question visible reality, to accept that multiple dimensions coexist.
