This is a fanciful transposition of Manet's famous "Luncheon on the Grass", transformed here into Picnic in the Jungle .
The three iconic figures in Manet's painting are transported from a Parisian park to a blazing clearing in an Indian jungle. Indian nymphs and wild animals seem to be enjoying the scene, observing these three figures deep in conversation at the center of the composition. It is both a whimsical reference to Manet and a tribute to the mysterious and incredible India.
The style is spontaneous, free, almost caricatured, in a composition close to that of Manet, but with more exotic colors.
The whole thing can be seen as a soft and playful caricature.
I hope to amuse the viewer.
