Cascading hair, bare back exposed to the light, arms raised as if in a trance: in Regular Symptoms VII , the body becomes a silent oracle. This photograph, with its ethereal and almost clinical aesthetic, is part of the series Losing turquoise , an exploration of the tensions between scientific knowledge and ancestral beliefs.
Turquoise—a chameleon stone somewhere between geology and talisman—is the symbolic anchor of a world in friction. Between technological advances and the resurgence of magical tales, our society slips, hesitates, and wavers.
The body then becomes a terrain of expression and struggle. Marked and traversed, it captures the invisible traces of this contemporary division between the rational and the mystical.
This poignant work subtly evokes human fragility in the face of the opposing forces that inhabit us.
