Cascading hair, a bare back bathed in light, arms raised as if in a trance: in Regular Symptoms VII , the body becomes a silent oracle. This photograph, with its ethereal and almost clinical aesthetic, is part of the Losing Turquoise series, an exploration of the tensions between scientific knowledge and ancestral beliefs.
Turquoise – a chameleon-like stone somewhere between geology and talisman – is here the symbolic anchor point of a world in friction. Between technological advances and the resurgence of magical narratives, our society slips, hesitates, wavers.
The body then becomes a field of expression and struggle. Marked, traversed, it captures the invisible traces of this contemporary division between the rational and the mystical.
This poignant work subtly evokes human fragility in the face of the opposing forces within us.
