A fault runs through the material. A clear vein cleaves the mineral darkness like a geological whisper, an ancient scar charged with mystery. Untitled Rockform II is an interior landscape, an intimate cartography of stone, time, and silence.
In this photographic work from the series Losing turquoise , Ioustini Drakoulakou scrutinizes the textural depths of the rock. Dense blacks and ashen blues evoke both the earth and the abyss, telluric origins as much as the specters of a changing world. The discreet appearance of a distant turquoise becomes a trace of what was: mineral, symbol, belief.
The image functions as a puzzle: is it a microscopic detail or an aerial view of a forgotten territory? The gaze wanders, then recollects, faced with this mineral topography that seems to speak to us of memory, crumbling, and resilience.
A work that is both raw and poetic, where matter becomes meditation.
