A chaos of colors, a body in motion, a fading silhouette. In this canvas, Philippe Trefois doesn't paint a subject: he projects an emotion, a surge, a suppressed cry. The human figure, always central to his work, is here struggling against implosion, as if caught in a tornado of instinct and light.
The forms are suggested rather than defined, and yet they strike us. A figure emerges, powerful and fragmented, perhaps walking, perhaps falling. Beside it, a black mask, a spectral silhouette, stares at us in the undefined, like the double of a buried thought. The material is vibrant, the painting brutal, alive, visceral.
