In Arlésiennes et ombrelles , Tiphaine de Belenet pays homage to a timeless, elegant, and united femininity. Five figures dressed in shimmering dresses parade, seen from behind, protected by their white umbrellas. Each is unique, but together, they form a silent choreography, a procession of memory and gentleness.
Using a mixed technique where painting interacts with collage, the artist inserts fragments of words into the fabrics – “elegance”, “fashion”, “culture”, “perfumes”… So many visual and symbolic signs that reveal the evocative charge of women’s clothing, between modernity and tradition.
The texture, folds and transparencies of the skirts recall the great Impressionist masters, but with a contemporary sensibility: one that questions the gaze, the references, and the impact of the word on the image.
