In Contre-nuit , Rémy Xavier explores the contrast between interior light and exterior silence. A single window, cut out of the density of the night, lets an incandescent breath pass through: a house, a roof, a human glow. Around it, opacity reigns. The tree, in shadow, seems to hold the secret of a suspended moment.
The deep blue of the sky, turning almost purple, converses with the intensity of the black. And then this yellow emerges, this subdued fire, like a heartbeat in the darkness. The work acts like a nocturnal beacon, a whispered confidence between wakefulness and sleep.
