In a desert landscape of pastel hues, a giraffe parks peacefully beneath a Chevron gas station sign. The image, both absurd and poetic, evokes the road trips of 1960s America, while twisting them with Mr. Strange's surreal humor.
Gas Station blurs the lines between reality and imagination. The artist invites us to contemplate the strangeness of everyday life and discover the unexpected. The almost unreal calm of the scene contrasts with the incongruity of the giraffe, as if parachuted from another world. Through this minimalist and masterful staging, Mr. Strange questions modern banality, the symbols of consumption, and the solitude of wide open spaces.
A subtle nod to the American Dream, devoid of meaning but still photogenic.
