In this poignant work, Arestakes sculpts the face of a rescued mother, enveloped in a veil of silence and dignity. Her downcast gaze, sculpted with raw intensity, reveals an internalized but controlled pain, that of survival after chaos. Every trace of the modeling, every groove in the earth, evokes hardship, loss, and yet an unwavering strength.
Her face, both firm and tender, recalls the figures of grieving Madonnas, while embodying a lucid maternity, anchored in the reality of human dramas. The white material of the plaster underlines the purity and timelessness of this figure, like a silent tribute to mothers wounded by History.
An emotional and universal sculpture, where expression becomes a language of memory and resilience.
