Hyderabad is famous for its jewelry and bangle market, where Indian women like to wander, try on and bargain for hours.
This painting is a recreation inspired by the many small, colorful dukan (shops) I visited in the local bazaar. It shows two women, a buyer and a seller, choosing and trying on bracelets.
At the back of the shop, stock is stacked along the walls, while two deities sit on a shelf, ensuring an atmosphere conducive to commerce.
