This work is part of my series on Indian musicians, artists of Indian classical music that I have had so much pleasure listening to over the years in India.
This is a fantasy painting, an imagined portrait of a sitar player… who appears to be wearing a Japanese kimono. Why Japan? I was born in Japan and have drawn deep influence from it for a long time.
This work is therefore a kind of fusion painting, mixing Indian and Japanese influences. I titled it Sitar Player, Genji Style .
It is a medium-sized painting, done in acrylic with bright and expressive colors.
