The Woman with Balls

In this work imbued with gentleness and mystery, Arestakes pays homage to an Indonesian female figure whose serene face seems to emerge from the material. Her gaze half-closed, her lips parted, she seems inhabited by an inner peace. Her headdress composed of spherical balls evokes both a traditional ornament and a symbol of cultural connection. The relief work gives the sculpture a vibrant, almost lifelike texture, which accentuates the sacred character of the portrait.
