In a cold, bare space with no apparent exit, two naked bodies lie curled up, frozen in a posture of withdrawal, shame or despair. In the background, a The black cat watches them, a silent witness to a scene both absurd and poignant. The white, almost clinical walls are more oppressive than they are open.
Hall V is a metaphorical composition about human vulnerability, modern solitude, and existential confinement. The human seems emptied of substance, while the animal—often a bearer of mystery or intuition—remains enigmatic.
A deeply disturbing painting, reminiscent of Hopper's theatrical compositions and Bacon's heavy silences, while retaining the artist's surrealist and ironic signature.
