With its raw, earthy force, the Lava Cube seems to have emerged straight from the bowels of the Earth. Its mineral appearance, marked by cracks and ashen hues, evokes solidified lava, a vestige of a past fusion between fire and matter.
The tormented and irregular surface contrasts with the geometric rigidity of the cube, creating a tension between chaos and structure, between nature and human intervention. Dark shades, punctuated by metallic and glowing reflections, recall the incandescent heat still lurking beneath the surface, like a contained force ready to awaken.
With this work, Philippe Rude captures the memory of the elements, inscribing in the earth the passage of time and the power of natural transformations.
