In this masterful work by Rémy Xavier, the swimming pool becomes a mirror of a world in balance, on the border between reality and memory. The title, The Last Summer Before... , suggests the imminence of a shift. Before what? We don't know—perhaps before the end of childhood, of love, or of the world as it was.
The incandescent red wall, both solar and oppressive, encircles the stage like a temporal parenthesis. The empty deckchairs, frozen in anticipation, accentuate this impression of absence and silence after the brilliance. And yet, nature abounds above, indifferent, superb, wild.
In the aquatic reflection, fragments of graffiti emerge, evoking the passage of human hands, the traces of a vibrant, already distant youth. The palette is vibrant, almost cinematic. Each element contributes to an intimate and universal narrative.
