The Arestakes Citadel seems to emerge from the depths of time, like the remains of an ancient world frozen in wood. Carved directly from an ancient oak tree, this monumental work displays a mysterious architecture, somewhere between organic rock and ancestral fortress.
The artist creates a vertical landscape from raw material, with steep elevations, evoking the ramparts of a forgotten city, perched on a mythical mountain. Carved with passages, niches and arches, this labyrinthine sculpture invites the eye to lose itself, to explore each angle like a sacred territory or a buried memory.
As one walks around it, human forms emerge: faces, silhouettes, or fragments subtly emerging from the walls, like spirits watching over the bastion. The woodwork reveals a tension between the power of nature and the human trace, between sculptural verticality and the intimacy of details.
The Citadel embodies a place of resistance and meditation, a work that is both telluric and spiritual, where each chip of the oak tells a story of a lost civilization.
