In Dialogue au féminin (Dialogue in the Feminine ), Philippe Trefois gives form to the silences, glances, and gestures of a mute yet vibrant intimacy. His raw, almost primitive style explores the contours of the soul rather than those of the body. The two figures, both fused and distinct, are held in an embrace of pigments and black lines drawn in charcoal, in a composition that seems to emerge from an ancient memory.
The colors – burnt earth, carmine, moss green, ochre – clash and blend, reflecting the complexity of shared emotions: sisterhood, support, desire, perhaps rivalry. The faces, sketched to the point of abstraction, gaze at us with their asymmetrical eyes, both curious and absent, like witnesses to an inner world.
