Two figures side by side, similar yet lost, stare at the viewer with an almost disturbing intensity. In Les Formatés , Philippe Trefois confronts us with the question of molded identity, of the face shaped by the gaze of others and social pressure.
Each line, each brushstroke or charcoal mark seems to cry out the struggle between the inner self and the imposed mask. The silhouettes, constructed and then deconstructed within the material, speak to us of a subtle, almost invisible conditioning. They bear witness to a society that molds, labels, and formats.
But within this fragmentation also emerges a raw emotion, a luminous flaw. Trefois, true to his introspective approach, invites us here to a form of inner disobedience, to the reconquest of being.
