In a misty setting imbued with melancholy, a young girl tenderly embraces a small hippopotamus. The gentleness of their contact, almost sacred, contrasts with the strangeness of the scene. Jean-Marie Gitard explores here the line between innocence and surrealism, blurring the lines of photographic realism and poetic narration.
The image, in black and white, suspends time and reveals a form of pure and universal love, almost mythological.
