Travel to Jordan
In 1996, I traveled to Jordan with my aunt. We traveled from north to south, from the capital, Aman, to the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea.
Passionate about the different civilizations that inhabited the places, I was able to discover the Nabataean remains, the people who created the site of Petra, those of the Romans in Aman and other places.
For my watercolors, I wanted to paint different characters that I met: soldiers, camel drivers, flute players, etc. I created them from my own photos.
A Jordanian soldier sits on ruins in Petra. His outfit blends in with the pink sandstone. It's too hot to stand guard. From here, he can keep an eye on things just as well.
