Travel to Crete
In February 1999, a 15-day trip to Crete, expertly organized by my mother.
We had rented a car which allowed us, from Heraklion, to go around Crete along the coast, to crisscross the inland hills covered with olive trees and to visit some monasteries.
At this time of year there were few tourists visiting the area.
I brought my outdoor easel and set it up in different places to immortalize the landscapes I encountered.
Crete is all about relief with a high point, Mount Ida at 2456 meters. Rows of olive trees stand everywhere, in the valleys and on the slopes. I painted this landscape with olive trees in the foreground that stand out with their dark color against the rest of the landscape. In the background, mountain ranges with fairly light colors in the distance
