Three aligned human skulls, painted in vibrant primary hues—yellow, red, and blue—appear to smile ironically at the viewer from a deep black background. At the crossroads of vanitas and pop art, this work questions the perception of death in a society saturated with color and imagery.
By reintroducing the classic skull motif into a contemporary visual language, Jean-Marie Gitard subverts funereal symbols with mischievous elegance, revealing a tension between existential angst and seductive aesthetics.
