A modest throne, a sharp light, a meditation on the ephemeral.
In Throne and Vanity , Rémy Xavier elevates banality into an icon. A simple plastic chair, devoid of any prestige, is captured in a dramatic light worthy of the great masters. Around it, dense shadows spread, and the tagged, sunburned walls tell of another form of royalty—that of everyday life, of lived experience, of the passing of time.
This patio scene becomes an allegory: the throne is there, but the sovereign has deserted. All that remains is the trace of the body, the fold of habits, the silence after the passage. The aloe vera watches, a plant sentinel of a frozen domestic theater.
With this work, Mr. LiGht continues his exploration of the hidden beauty of reality. He transcends forgotten objects, giving them gravity, poetry, and a strange kind of nobility.
