In Untitled rockform IV , Ioustini Drakoulakou captures a world in suspension, on the border between mineral and liquid, rock and light. Beneath the undulation of an aqueous surface, matter seems to dance: reflections blur certainties, textures overlap like geological memories obscured by time.
The stone, seen through the water, becomes almost unreal, bathed in deep blues, vaporous grays, and inky blacks. This composition speaks to us of gentle erosion, dissolution, and revelation. It evokes an ancient secret surfacing, a vestige of an underground world brought to light.
As part of the Losing turquoise series, this work further highlights the dialogue between the intimate and the invisible, between soil science and mystical vision.
Ioustini Drakoulakou continues his sensitive exploration of turquoise — not only as an object of geological study, but as a receptacle of stories, beliefs and metamorphoses.
