In Untitled rockform III , Ioustini Drakoulakou fixes the gaze on the rock as on a palimpsest surface, a primitive and enigmatic territory, traversed by veins, shadows and buried memories.
This photograph, with its almost tactile precision, reveals the inner workings of a mineral wall striated with light and history, as if the stone were about to whisper its ancient secrets. Each fissure, each white vein or metallic reflection becomes a testament to geological time, to a fossilized memory.
The work echoes the central theme of the Losing Turquoise series, exploring the connection between raw materials, ancestral narratives, and cultural symbols. Turquoise, though absent here, is evoked, haunting the surface like a precious ghost.
A fragment of landscape transformed into abstraction, an intimate geography where mystery, matter and memory intertwine.
