In 7 Eleven Supermarket , Jean-Marie Gitard blends the iconic pop universe of geek culture with a banal nighttime scene from a neighborhood supermarket. An Imperial robot (AT-AT) from the Star Wars universe and the droid C-3PO find themselves frozen in this anachronistic setting, bathed in a familiar, almost nostalgic artificial light.
With humor and surrealism, the artist confronts the imagination of science fiction with our most trivial daily lives, revealing an unexpected poetry in the ordinary.
A work that questions our relationship to consumption, fiction and lost childhood.
