Alain Vuillemet - Visionary Sculptor

Born in 1947 in Levallois-Perret, Alain Vuillemet developed a passion for the fascinating world of Vaucanson's automatons at a very early age. This fascination led him to forge a true artistic culture through his reading and museum visits. But it was in the world of industry that Vuillemet found his true medium: metal.

After working as a technical sales representative for the company Lastek, which specialises in welding equipment, he discovered the magic of metal shaping during factory demonstrations. This revelation led him to become an expert in this material, which he shapes with unparalleled mastery.

Vuillemet's sculptures transcend the simple art object; they become mystical, almost esoteric creations, invested with their own power. Beyond the studio, he often associates his art with public performance. He creates live before the eyes of the public, notably for institutions such as the American Center of Paris, the Allonnes festival or under the dome of the CNIT at La Défense. These performances stimulate his imagination and give him the necessary impetus to create monumental sculptures.

Isolated in his studio in Burgundy, he responds to public and private orders with monumental works that punctuate the urban and rural landscape. His creations can be admired throughout France, notably in Canet-en-Roussillon, at the Colette Museum in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye, and in many cities during exhibitions such as:

His work of undulating metal, combining flexibility and strength, has earned him selection in many prestigious exhibitions: Salon de Mai, Grands et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui, Salon d'Art Sacré, Biennale des Arts de la Rue, MAC 2000, and many others.
