Artistic approach – Fausto Borge

In my works, concept and matter merge in a kind of temporality expressed through wear and tear, or even the deliberate degradation of the support. This process involves damaging what initially appeared clean and distinct, in order to recapture the past.

If one analyzes my work with a clinical eye, one will see that there is always, in the background, an underlying structure, at the spectral limit, which has faded to become mysterious. I thus break down precise outlines, I flatten colors until they are nothing more than a memory, and this is the critical stage of the process, for it is generally at this moment that balance is found, that harmony and retinal pleasure manifest themselves almost spontaneously.

Geometry has finally dissolved and its reconversion gives rise to an atmosphere, an ambient environment, because all art is a transcendence that must abstract itself from flat reality.
